Plot :

 This film, which featured some of the most popular variety acts of the time, including Lucan & McShane, was re-issued in cut form in  1940 and 1950 under the alternative title of Star Parade.

The Story :

Star Parade is an important street where many famous people live, and in our screen play the famous people are Stars known throughout the contry, and in some cases throughout the world,by the Screen, Radio and Stage.

The Sketch :

Kathleen Mavoureen (1937)(U)  

(aka Kathleen (in USA))

Plot :

A musical set in Ireland, in which a waitress rejects a rich man in favour of a singing stevedore .The film is loosly based on the ballad "Kathleen Mavourneen". American actress Sally O'Neill stars as Kathleen O'Moore, who attracts the romantic attentions of Michael Rooney (Tom Burke) and Dennis O'Dwyer (Jack Daly). The two love rivals team up to rescue Kathleen from her nasty aunt Hannah (Ethel Gryffies), who has arranged a loveless but profitable marriage for the girl.

Several prominent Irish stage actors, notably Sarry Allgood and Denis O'Neal, are cast in pivotal roles.

The story of "Kathleen Mavourneen" had previously been filmed several times.
