BEHIND THE CURTAINS -THE PRIVATE LIFE OF LUCAN & McSHANE (Continued)
Rise And Fall Whilst the showbiz career of Lucan & McShane continued to rocket, the cracks began to widen in their marriage. Kitty and Bleach's affair had come to Arthur's attention, and the arguements between the married couple became more frequent and severe.
The couple finally split and Arthur and Kitty toured in separate "Old Mother Riley" productions.
The Final Curtain
The stress took its inevitable toll, and Arthur Lucan collapsed and died waiting for his cue in the wings of the
Tivoli Theatre, Kingston-upon-Hull, on 17th May 1954. He was sixty-eight years old.
The widowed Kitty enlisted the help of Roy Rolland, who had been Arthur's stand-in, to carry on the 'Old Mother Riley'
act, but it was met with limited success.
Kitty McShane was found dead at her Mayfair flat in Molton Street, on 24th March 1964, aged sixty-five.
The cause of death was not reported.
