 Maud Grassby

Maud Myers (nee Grassby) was born on 22 June 1908 and died on 27 April 1944, aged 35. The place of death is given as 199 Anlaby Road (Hull Royal Infirmary address?). The death was notified by her husband, Harold Myers, of 3 St Helens Terrace, Strickland Street, Hull. His occupation is given as Demolition Labourer (Corporation).

Maud Myers died a fortnight after giving birth to a daughter, Catherine Myers, who was born approx. one month premature. 

The cause of Maud's death is given as Congestive cardiac failure (heart attack?), Chronic mitral stenosis and Parturition (eight months).

Maud Myers is buried in Kingston-upon-Hull's Western Municipal Cemetery, which is situated on Spring Bank/Chanterlands Avenue. The grave location/reference is :- 44045/Compartment 456. No headstone or memorial marks Maud's last resting place.

Hull City Council's records at Chanterlands Crematorium (Tele 01482- 594975/6) shows the address of the deceased as Wilberforce Street, Hull.

Catherine Myers

Catherine Myers was born one month  prematurely on 19 April 1944 and died on 10 May 1944, less than a month old.

If today's modern life-saving technology had been available in 1944  there would be a good chance that Catherine would have survived.
